The Inner Home
Self-Reflection

This isn't a test. There are no right answers — only honest ones. The point is simply to arrive at the Inner Reno already a little more curious about yourself than you were before you started.

Move through each element slowly. If a question pulls at something, stay with it. If something feels tender, that's information.

01

Find somewhere quiet. This deserves more than a waiting room.

02

Rate each element, then let the open question take you somewhere real.

03

Bring it with you. We'll be going back inside together.

Element One
01
The Basement
What you carry in

The basement holds what you brought into this career before you knew it was shaping you — early stories about money, worth, belonging, and what kind of person you are. Most people don't go down there. But it affects every floor above it.

How aware are you of the past experiences and patterns that influence how you work today?

Not at all aware
Deeply aware

What story from before your career began still shows up in how you work, how you charge, or how you value yourself?

A few words is enough. No one will read this but you.

Element Two
02
The Foundation
Purpose

Purpose is what you're actually standing on — not your goals, not your GCI. The real thing underneath. It's invisible and taken for granted, and only noticed when something feels unstable.

How connected do you feel to your deeper purpose in this work right now?

Completely lost
Deeply grounded

If the money and the freedom and the flexible schedule were off the table — what would still make this work worth doing?

Whatever comes up. There's no wrong answer.

Element Three
03
The Front Door
Boundaries

Boundaries aren't walls — they're doors. They can open and close. You can boundary up when you're leaking energy, and open up when life calls for less rigidity. The question is whether you know how to work the handle.

How well are you currently managing what you let into your time, energy, and emotional space?

Door always open
Working the handle

Where in your work or life are you absorbing someone else's urgency as your own — and what would it feel like to close that door?

Be honest with yourself. This page sees nothing.

Element Four
04
The Quiet Place
Identity

Identity lives in two places — on the outside as curb appeal, and on the inside in the place where you've always been able to be quiet. The window seat. The back porch. The bathtub. The part of you that has known you the longest.

How connected do you feel to who you are outside of your professional identity right now?

Lost in role
Fully myself

Where is your quiet place — and when did you last actually go there?

Just notice what you notice. Write it down.

Element Five
05
The Communal Spaces
Energy

Energy lives where life happens with other people — the kitchen, the dining room, the living room. The question isn't about productivity. It's about whether you are truly fed by the relationships in your life, or whether the kitchen is full but no one is eating together.

How genuinely nourished do you feel by the relationships in your personal and professional life?

Running on empty
Genuinely fed

Who in your life do you let see the hard parts — not just the highlight reel? And is there room for more of that?

Not a journal entry — just a sentence or two if that's what's there.

Element Six
06
The Windows
Perspective

A room looks completely different depending on which window you're standing at. And the light hits differently at different times of day — just like in life. Perspective isn't about being positive. It's about noticing which window you've been looking through.

How open are you right now to seeing your career or life situation from a different angle?

Fixed at one window
Moving freely

What narrative about your career, your market, or yourself have you been repeating so long you've forgotten it's just one way of looking at it?

Whatever lands first is usually the truest. Trust it.

Element Seven
07
The Ceiling
Limiting beliefs

The ceiling is what you don't see — until you bump your head on it. The quiet beliefs that cap what you reach for. They aren't facts. They're ceilings. And unlike a physical ceiling, this one can be raised. But only once you see it's there.

How aware are you of the beliefs that may be capping your growth, your income, or your sense of what's possible for you?

Completely unaware
Clearly aware

Finish this sentence honestly: "I'm just not the kind of person who ___________." Now ask yourself — is that true, or is that a ceiling?

Stay with the question. The answer doesn't have to be neat.

Element Eight
08
The Rooftop
Protection & belief

The rooftop is what keeps everything underneath it safe. It isn't glamorous. But without it, nothing survives the weather. It's what you rely on when the market turns, when a deal falls apart, when you question everything.

How held do you feel right now — by your faith, your community, your own inner knowing — when things get hard?

Completely exposed
Fully covered

Think of a time this career really tested you. What covered you? What held — and is that still available to you now?

A few honest words is more useful than a paragraph of polish.

Bring it with you

That's the walk-through.

You don't need to organize what came up. You don't need to know what to do with it. Just save it — and bring it with you to your Inner Reno session.

Opens your printer dialog. Choose Save as PDF as the destination, or print directly. Your reflection stays yours — nothing is sent anywhere.
