Do Not Borrow Dirt

By Courtney Kattengell · Archive date: August 4, 2026

You cannot stabilize your house by taking earth from beneath someone else's.

It may seem practical at first: borrow their certainty, their approval, their energy, their footing. Build yourself up with whatever they can spare.

But a foundation created through another person's collapse is not secure.

Support is not the same as extraction. Interdependence is not the same as asking someone else to sink so you can stand taller.

Let your foundation be built from what is true, reciprocal, and sound.

No home becomes whole by making the neighboring house less safe.
