Not Every Room

By Courtney Kattengell · Archive date: August 11, 2026

Not every room requires your participation.

Some rooms are organized around ridicule. Some depend on your defensiveness. Some only feel powerful while you are standing there trying to explain yourself.

You do not have to win the argument before you walk away.

Disengagement is not always avoidance. Sometimes it is the moment you stop offering your presence to a space that cannot hold it with care.

Not every room deserves your explanation.

Some rooms are simply meant to be outgrown.
